California Ballet School program director, Clarissa PalhegyiA graduate of the California Ballet School, Clarissa Palhegyi was a member of the California Ballet Company from 1988-1996. Appearing in the majority of the repertory, her roles included Serenade Encounters, Ambiguous Obsessions, Giselle, Coppelia, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Swan Lake, La Bayadere, Les Sylphides, Western Orpheus, Pan’s Pursuits, Go the Distance, The Tale of Sara Kettington, Dracula, Recuerdes de Carmen and For Flora. Featured roles included Lady Montegue in Romeo and Juliet, the Spanish variation in The Nutcracker, Mother Superior in Bernarda, the lead Nursemaid in Petrushka, and she received favorable mention for her portrayal of the Cook in Alice in Wonderland.

On faculty with the California Ballet School, Ms. Palhegyi has been general manager of the School since 1995. For the past four years, she has also been tour manager for the California Ballet Company. An award winning choreographer, she has produced and created three full length ballets for the All School Concert: A Childhood Remembered (1997), the multimedia A Century of Dance (1999) and Dancing Around the World in 80 Days (2001). Ms. Palhegyi holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Speech Communication from San Diego State University. She owns a dance clothing business called Dancewear, Etc., and is the mother of two sons, Aubrey Dean and Gordon Lane.
